Late MP Ssegirinya’s Widows Expresses Interest in Succeeding Him in Parliament

Just a few days after Hon Muhammad Ssegirinya was laid to rest in Kadugala, Masaka, one of his widows has expressed interest in running for the Kawempe North parliamentary seat to replace him. Twahira Akandinda said that she’s one of the late MP’s baby mamas having bore his son, Ssegirinya Ibrahim.

She started by thanking everyone who has been by their side in this tough period especially MPs and friends of the family. Akandinda then proceeded to rally all the people of Kawempe to support her just as they had been supporting Ssegirinya.

She claimed that she was the one who had always been by his side, especially in running his famed social media pages. Therefore, she’s now well conversant with how everything is done and she hopes to continue this legacy.

Additionally, Akandinda said that she believes she’s the perfect choice to fill the void left by the MP, especially in regards to his projects. Akandinda further stated that she’s seeking everyone’s support in this task ahead of her.

It should be noted that a couple of names are already turning out to be interested in this seat. Most notable is NUP president, Bobi Wine’s older brother Chairman Nyanzi.

After various failed attempts to get into Parliament, it’s believed that Bobi Wine will favor his brother to be the flag bearer of the party in the pending by-election.

Meanwhile, Ssegirinya’s family seems to be backing his assistant Alex Luwemba. They even went as far as asking NUP to give him the party nod as the official replacement of the late MP. Meanwhile, the EC is yet to announce the roadmap to filling this void left behind by the MP.
