The body of the late comedian Mpiirwe Nicholas popularly known as Messe Bontwe has finally arrived in the country and a burial program has been set.
The body was taken to St Stephen’s Church in Munyonyo where friends gathered to pay their respects.
A lot of people including entertainers were present. Messe will be buried in Rwampara in Mbarara, his ancestral home. During the vigil held at one of the relatives’ homes, Messe’s former boss and friend, Hon Peter Ssematimba pledged to pay the school fees of the late’s children till they finish school.
It should be noted that Messe a former member of the Comedy Group, Amarula Family succumbed to a heart attack at the start of last month. Due to a lack of funds to repatriate the body, the corpse has been lying in the morgue in the US till the money was fully collected.
Despite his death coming a month and a half ago, many people were seen visibly hurt and wailing. He was one of the pioneers of the modern entertainment industry in Uganda.
