MTN Uganda has come out to provide a statement after the car they gifted to Ms Night Ampurire went missing.
It should be remembered that this lady, a fruit vendor was last year gifted a brand new car by MTN after a story by NTV showed her delivering fruits in an old dangerous truck.
However, Night Ampurire’s car reportedly went missing from Entebbe a few days ago. Ampurire explained that the car broke down and she was referred to a mechanic from Kampala.
The mechanic requested 800,000 shillings for repairs. After using her savings, Ampulire paid 700,000 shillings. The mechanic then said he needed to test the car, but it was taken to an unknown location, and it has now been nearly two weeks without any word on its whereabouts.
Wild allegations have since been swirling around that maybe MTN could have taken the car back from her. However, the telecommunications company has downplayed these allegations. They said that after handing the car to Ampurire, it became her own indefinitely.
MTN however reached out to her and they have pledged their support to her in the efforts to discover the whereabouts of this car.
“We have reached out to Ms. Night Ampurire and will engage with her privately to ascertain the facts surrounding this story. Once the details are established, we will consider any necessary interventions to assist her address the situation appropriately,” part of MTN’s statement read.
