The Uganda National Examinations Board, UNEB has formally communicated the official date for the release of the 2024 Primary Leaving Examinations, PLE, results.
After a meeting held with the Minister of Education and Sports Janet Kataha Museveni at State House, Nakasero, UNEB announced that the results will be released on Thursday 23rd January.
These results will officially be released by the First Lady, at State House Nakasero. As per the statement released by UNEB in regards to their meeting with the First Lady, it was revealed that last year’s performance was better than that of 2023.
A total of 798,771 candidates sat for the 2024 PLE Exams a 6.6% increase from 2023. The release of the results will be aired live on the Ministry of Education and Sports and UNEB social media pages. Parents and candidates will then be able to access their results via SMS

“2024 PLE results to be officially released on Thursday, January 23rd, 2025
Theme: Embracing security and holistic assessment of learners in a dynamic environment
The Minister for Education and Sports Mama Janet K. Museveni will officially release of the 2024 Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) on Thursday, January 23rd, 2025 at State House Nakasero.
Today, the UNEB team led by the Chairperson, Prof. Celestino Obua, briefed the Minister and other Ministry of Education and Sports (MOES) top officials on the general performance of the 2024 PLE candidates. During the briefing, UNEB ED, Mr. Dan Odongo revealed that overall, the performance of candidates in 2024 is better than that of 2023.
A total of 798,771 candidates registered for the 2024 examination, compared to 749, 254 in 2023. This represents a percentage increase of 6.6%.
The official release of the results will be streamed live on both UNEB (UNEB_UG) and MOES social media platforms starting at 11:00 a.m.
After the official release, parents, candidates, and well-wishers will be able to access the results via SMS on their mobile phone handsets by typing, full Index No, and sending to 6600; e.g. PLE 00123/356, send to 6600.
The schools will be able to access the results through their portals while printed copies will be picked by the respective District/City/Municipal Inspectors of Schools.”
