The number of artists expressing their interest in active politics seems to be sprouting slowly ahead of the 2026 general elections with the latest being Big Eye.
Taking to his social media pages, the Indicator singer said that he’s tired of people telling him to leave politics alone and focus on music.
He said that he’s deeply involved in politics and there’s no way he can snub himself from the state of affairs of his country. This is because as a Ugandan citizen what goes on ahead politically in the country affects him and therefore he has to be fully aware.
Big Eye further said that politics is what determines the future of every Ugandan. Additionally, he said that it’s maybe even high time he thought about running for a parliamentary seat in his constituency.
This is because his president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu has continuously advised them to do so. After all, when they are in leadership, they can actively and practically contribute to serving their nation. Besides he’s of legal age to do what he wants and on top of that if they don’t actively engage in politics to effect the change they want, nobody will do it. Also, Big Eye said that music is his business, therefore those telling him to leave it should advise someone else.
“Dear fellow citizens, greetings to you all,
I’m tired of seeing the comment from some people saying “Big Eye, leave politics and focus on music” on some of my social media posts. So, let me set the record straight: I am deeply involved and committed to the politics of my country, and I will never step away from it. It matters to me greatly as a Ugandan citizen because the state of our nation affects us all. Politics is what determines the future of every Ugandan.
In fact, I should consider running for a “Parliamentary seat” in 2026-2031 term in my constituency as our president HE Robert Kyagulanyi has strongly encouraged us to do. This will allow me to contribute more actively and practically in serving my country well.
First off, I am above 18 years old. Second, if not us, then who? And third, music is my business, but my commitment to my country is a priority.”
Dear fellow citizens, greetings to you all,
